Huskies win 8-man debut

HALFWAY — Well that didn’t take long. The Elgin Huskies had a memorable debut at the eight-man level, defeating Pine Eagle 34-28 Friday.

The Huskies mustered more than 400 yards of offense in the win.

“It felt really good,” Elgin head coach Brock Eckstein said.

Gage Little had 138 yards passing with three touchdowns and two interceptions. Gavin Christenson had 78 yards receiving and two scores, Stephen Howes added 78 yards receiving and a touchdown. Chris Roberts finished with 71 rushing yards and a touchdown. He was also a menace on defense, finishing with 22 solo tackles and 10 assists.

“He had a great game. He was all over the field,” Eckstein said. 

Jordan Vermillion had 115 all-purpose yards and a touchdown.
