DUFUR — Things went wrong from the opening kickoff, and didn’t get any better for the Imbler Panthers.

Dufur ran back the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown during a 56-28 win, dropping the Panthers record to 1-1 this season.

The Rangers bookended their scoring in the first quarter with kickoff returns. The second came on a 41-yard return on an onside kick attempt.

Tyler Tandy got the Panthers on the board on the ensuing possession with a 2-yard run, but the Panthers trailed 20-6 after the first quarter.

Imbler played even with the Rangers in the second quarter following a 16-yard touchdown reception by Rustin McDonald from Kyle Johnson.

But, Dufur had an answer before the half. Nick Little scored on a 27-yard pass with 19 seconds left to go before the half.

Johnson led the Panthers with 99 yards on seven attempts, including a 65-yard touchdown run. The senior completed 16-of-27 passes for 146 yards with a touchdown.

Imbler’s Joe Griffin finished with 84 yards on 19 attempts. He also caught six passes for 43 yards.

Luke Silbernagle had seven receptions for 43 yards for Imbler. Clint Porter reeled in two passes for 50 yards.

Imbler hosts Sherman at 2 p.m. Friday. The Huskies enter the game 2-0 following a 62-14 win over Prairie City.
