Mills grabs POTY honor

Imbler received the two biggest awards following the end of the Old Oregon League volleyball season.

The Panthers Malia Mills was named the Player of the Year. 

Imbler swept through the league schedule, finishing 10-0. The Panthers finished the season with a 20-0 record. They won 60 sets this season, while dropping three, and finished the regular season at No. 3 in the OSAA state rankings.

Lowell and Dufur are No. 1 and 2, respectively. 

Head coach Jennifer Teeter took home the Coach of the Year honors.

As a team, the Panthers had three players named to the first team. Senior Jacey Teeter and junior Emma Bowers joined Mills on the first team list.

Last year’s state champion, Powder Valley, placed setter Alexandra Colton on the first team.

Cove put twins on the list. Sisters Hannah and Hailey Hulse, both juniors, rounded out the first team selections.

Coaches select the all-league team after the season is over.

The league tournament kicks off Saturday at  La Grande High School.
