Mountaineers rally to eighth win on the road

LEWISTON, Idaho — The Eastern Oregon University men’s basketball used a 9-1 run over the final two minutes of the game to post a 66-63 non-conference win over Lewis-Clark State College on Friday night. 

Tony Eackles Jr. was 8-for-11 from the floor to lead the Mountaineers with 21 points.

With just over two minutes left in the game, the Mountaineers trailed 62-57, but Eastern Oregon (8-1 overall) picked up the defense, allowing the Warriors to score one point the rest of the game. 

The Mountaineers were able to keep the cushion betweeen them and the Warriors by connecting from the charity stripe.

Kevin Attila connected to two free throws to put EOU up by three points with 12 seconds left to go in the game, finishing with nine points.

Joseph Moquino’s three-point shot clanged off the rim to end the game.

The Moutaineers held a 39-30 rebounding advantage and were led by Kyllian Wood and Tavin Hurley, who each had seven boards.

E.J. Farris led the Warriors (8-1) with 30 points.

EOU returns to the court on Dec. 6 when it travels to The Evergreen State College to open conference play. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
