A La Grande woman is in critical condition in a Boise hospital after she lost control of her pickup truck on ice Saturday morning in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 near North Powder.

Oregon State Police said Kelley Linn Gross, 51, was first taken by ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medical Center-Baker City and later flown to St. Alphonsus in Boise.
The rollover crash happened at 5:45 a.m. Police said Gross’ Toyota Tundra pickup spun across both lanes of traffic and traveled into the median, landing on its wheels in the westbound travel lane after rolling twice.
The North Powder Quick Response Team used extrication tools to remove Gross from the pickup, police said. Her passenger, Audra Gross-Allen, 30, of Portland, was treated and released at the Baker City hospital.
Icy road conditions resulted in several freeway crashes in the Baker area over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Miguel Angel Mendosa, 25, of Pasco, Wash., was not hurt when the tractor-trailer he was driving slid on ice at about 8 a.m. Saturday as he slowed for another crash that happened in front of him on Interstate 84, about five miles north of Baker City.
The truck and trailer were pushed onto their sides and into the median. One westbound travel lane was closed  for three hours by the crash, police said.
Police and ambulance crews were dispatched to a third freeway crash in the westbound lanes near Durkee at 8:36 a.m. Saturday. Tracy Lee Ann Sharkey, 45, of Battleground, Wash., was taken by ambulance to the Baker City hospital where she was treated for back pain as a result of the crash.
Samuel Lennon Bottemiller, 20, of Vancouver, Wash., was driving the U-Haul vehicle in which Sharkey was riding. Bottemiller, 20, of Vancouver, Wash., was not injured. Police said the vehicle slid on an icy bridge and struck the cement barrier. It then ricochetted across both lanes of travel and struck the left and right barriers.
Police said the vehicle continued to slide and then struck the guardrail on the right shoulder and jackknifed before coming to rest upright partially blocking the travel lane. No citations were issued.
