Tigers have successful weekend in Idaho

NAMPA, Idaho — The La Grande wrestling team had a few bright spots at the Rollie Lane Invitational Saturday.

“It was a great weekend for us,” La Grande head coach Klel Carson said. “The boys did great.”

Cole Rohan brought home the lone championship for the Tigers at 106 pounds. Rohan pulled out a 5-4 decision against Nyssa’s Heath Hartley. It was the second straight one-point win for Rohan at the tournament, who defeated Liam Tarvin of Hermiston 8-7 in the semifinals. Rohan opened the tournament with a bye, and won his next two matches by fall.

Corey Issacson and Caleb Woodworth each brought home fifth-place finishes. Issacson defeated Mysun Mather of Capitol, Idaho, 3-0 at 98 pounds. Issacson went 5-2 during the tournament. Woodworth, also went 5-2, and defeated Brandon Wells of Meridian, Idaho, 3-1.

Seth DeVinney won two matches, but fell in the third consolation round by fall.

La Grande will travel back to Nampa for the Skyview duals at 8 a.m. Saturday.
