PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Wallowa falls behind early, rallies for OOL win

WALLOWA — It took getting into a deep hole, but the Wallowa girls basketball team picked up an Old Oregon League win at home Saturday.

The Cougars fell behind 13-3 to open the game, but surged back for a 39-23 win against Pine Eagle.

Wallowa’s defense got going after surrendering 13 points in the opening quarter, only allowing 10 points the rest of the game.

Kristyn Young led the Cougars with 18 points, while Macy Frei finished with eight points.

Wallowa (5-7) will travel to Cove for a 6 p.m. game Friday. 

Imbler runs OOL record to 2-0 following win

IMBLER — Jacey Teeter got the ball rolling for Imbler in the first half, and her team finished the rest of the job to improve to 2-0 in the Old Oregon League Saturday.

Teeter scored all 10 of her points in the first half, and the Panthers girls basketball team cruised to a 44-25 win against Powder Valley.

Imbler jumped out to a 27-12 halftime lead, and coasted to the win in the second half, scoring 17 points the rest of the game.

Ally Fullerton connected on three 3-point attempts, and finished with 13 points, a team-high for Imbler. Emma Bowers scored seven points.

Bailee Allen led the Badgers with 12 points, while Alexandra Colton scored seven points.

The Panthers picked up a 37-10 win against Wallowa to open league play Friday. 

Malia Mills led all scorers with 10 points, while Lexee Robertson scored seven.

Taylor Harshfield led Wallowa with four points, with the Cougars only scoring points in the first and third quarters.

Imbler (10-3) will travel to Pine Eagle for a 6 p.m. game Friday, while Powder Valley will host Joseph at 6 p.m., also on Friday.

Cove opens league schedule with easy win

COVE — Nearly every player got into the scorebook for Cove in its Old Oregon League opening win 

The Leopards picked up their second consecutive home win, defeating Joseph 48-26.

Senior Mikayla Murchison had a big night, leading the team with 18 points. Kindra Moore scored nine points, while Hannah Hulse scored eight points in her second game back on the floor this season.

Hailey McClure and Satori Albee each scored six points for Joseph.

Cove (5-7) will host Wallowa at 7 p.m. Friday. Joseph (2-10) will travel to Powder Valley for a 6 p.m. game Friday. 

Enterprise skid continues with loss to Union

ENTERPRISE — A rough stretch of the season continued for Enterprise Saturday.

The Outlaws dropped 1-5 in their last six games, falling to Union 58-32.

The Bobcats outscored Enterprise 38-6 in the second and third quarters combined. 

Keesha Sarman led Union with 20 points. Sarah Good added 14 points, while Delanie Kohr finished with eight points.

Hayley Riggs led the Outlaws with 13 points.

Enterprise picked up its first conference win of the season Thursday, defeating Stanfield 45-21.

The Tigers fell behind quickly, trailing 12-2 after one quarter. Enterprise went on to win each quarter. 

Riggs led all scorers with 15 points, while Tiffanie George scored nine points.

The Bobcats defeated Elgin 66-35 at home Friday.

Union surged ahead in the second quarter, taking a 32-18 lead.

Sarman led all scorers with 19 points. Elly Wells finished with nine points. Kohr and Rebecca Sanders each finished with eight points.

Katie Witherspoon led Elgin with 15 points.

Enterprise (5-8) will travel to Grant Union for a 6 p.m. game Friday. Union (12-2) will travel to Irrigon for a 
7 p.m. game Friday.
