An off night turned into a thrilling game at Quinn Coliseum for Eastern Oregon University fans. The Mountaineers saw three streaks continue with a 71-56 win against Northwest Christian University Friday night. But, one did come to an end.

Freshman Kelsey Hill came off the bench to lead EOU in scoring, finishing 5-of-10 from the floor for 14 points, while Payton Parrish added 10 points off the bench.

The Mountaineers, winners of six straight games, extended their winning streak in Quinn Coliseum to 31 games, and pushed the Cascade Collegiate Conference winning streak to 28 games.

It all came on an off night from leading scorer Brittney Newcomb. The senior went 0-of-10 from the floor in the first half, and was held scoreless. The Weber State transfer got things going in the second half, and finished with 12 points. It ends Newcomb’s streak of 13 straight games leading the Mountaineers in scoring.

The game went back-and-forth in the first half, with the Mountaineers taking a 32-29 halftime lead. EOU pulled away with a 10-1 run capped by 3-pointers by Maloree Moss and Newcomb, giving the Mountaineers a 56-46 lead.

The Beacons were led by Chandler Gabrio with 18 points, while Allie Kelsey finished with 11 points.

EOU (16-4 overall, 8-0 CCC) will host Corban University at 5:30 p.m. tonight.
