ONTARIO — Oregon State Police have responded to 13 incidents of vehicle slideoffs and crashes in eastern Oregon since Feb. 5.

While these were the only incidents resulting in damages to property or injury, there were dozens more which did not go reported as drivers were able to get back on the road themselves.

Malheur County Sheriff’s Office responded to 10 reportable incidents since Feb. 8.

Police said a major contributing factor to the incidents was drivers following too closely to the vehicle in front of them and drivers going too fast for road conditions.

The number of accidents was small compared to in Northwest Oregon, where the weather led to hundreds of crashes late last week.
