Eastern Oregon University President Bob Davies may find himself taking the reins of  Murray State University later this year.

Davies is a finalist for the position of president of Murray State University in Murray, Ken.

Davies will travel to Murray this weekend and will interviewed by Murray State University's institutional board on Tuesday. He said that deciding to apply for the position was difficult.

"It was a tough decision,'' Davies said. "We love it here.''

Davies, 47, said he applied for the position at Murray State because a colleague for whom he has great respect suggested that he seek the opening.

The EOU president said it will take a lot for him to take the position at Murray State if he is offered it.

"It is going to have be an amazing fit,'' Davies said.

Davies is completing his fifth year as president of Eastern. He came to Eastern from Indiana University of Pennsylvania where he had been since 2006.
