Walmart Foundation’s Event Volunteerism Always Pays program awarded a $3,000 grant to Grande Ronde Hospital’s Hospice department.

“They wanted to honor the service that our hospice provides the community,” said Julie Parks, hospice manager. “Walmart employees volunteered 193 hours in 2013 in community service and a team fund raising event. Then the Walmart Foundation donated a dollar amount based on those hours and the number of participating volunteers.”

The team event funding this grant was led by Walmart associate Laura Vanderzwan. The grant award will be held in trust by the GRH Foundation, earmarked for future purchases that will directly enhance the care of hospice patients in Union County.
