High water possible today in Union County

Streams, creeks and the Grande Ronde River are running high and fast due to rainfall and snow melt runoff. Creeks, streams and the river are expected to crest last today.

The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory until 4:15 p.m.

Some areas of Union County have already experienced high water on roads. As a precautionary measure, motorists should not drive vehicles through high water areas and avoid passage through the areas if possible.

According to Union County officials, the flooding even is predicted to be one of short duration, and conditions should improve significantsly within the next 24-36 hours.

Union County Emergency Services urges citizens to exercise extreme caution near waterways.
