THE DALLES — For the first time out this season, La Grande girls golf coach Ron Evans didn’t put too much pressure on his young team. The goal was simply to finish what they started.

“The girls did a great job,” Evans said. “Considering the experience we have, we set a goal we could reach. They all handled it really well for the first time out.”

The Tigers did that, while taking fifth at The Dalles-Wahtonka Invite with a team score of 539.

Pendleton won the tournament with a score of 379, while Goldendale, Wash.,  took second with 436. The Dalles-Wahtonka rounded out the top three with a score of 483.

Trinity McCarthy led the team with a 110, while Cassidee Miller finished with a 136.

“Most of the girls have never played before,” Evans said. “We’ll see those scores come down as the season goes along.”

Anna Seymour (145) Caitlyn Robinson (148) and Sarah Robinson (160) rounded out the team.

Goldendale’s Bree Wanderschide earned medalist honors with a round of 73. Pendleton’s Haley (83 and Shelby (85) Grieb took second and third, respectively.
