Tigers continue winning ways

BAKER CITY — La Grande jumped out early and held on to run its winning streak to six games to open the season.

The Tigers baseball team capped the Baker Spring Tournament with a 6-3 win over Weiser, Idaho, Tuesday.

La Grande scored in every inning except the first, and received a 3-for-3 performance from senior Tyson Wicklander. Wicklander finished with a pair of doubles and three RBIs.

Trailing 6-1 in the top of the seventh, the Wolverines scored two runs with one out. With two on and two outs, Jacob Chamberlain induced a ground ball for the final out.

Eli Childs picked up the win, pitching five innings. He allowed five hits, struck out three and walked one.

Jared Rogers picked up a pair of hits and an RBI.

La Grande will host Roseburg at noon today at Pioneer Park.
