Rodeo in Joseph set to create competition amongst neighbors

The Countdown to Chief Joseph Days weekend kicks off at 2:30 p.m., Friday with a horseback ride from the rodeo grounds to the east moraine and back through Joseph. 

The ride is followed by social hour at the Thunder room at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m. 

 

Teams will be auctioned off calcutta style, where the winning teams and owners split the pot.

Raffle tickets for two nights at Southpoint Resort in Las Vegas and two tickets for two performances at the National Finals Rodeo will be sold for $10 and $7 apiece. 

The Saturday events include team roping, branding, sorting and doctoring. Awards will be given for best cowgirl and top hand.

There will be $1,500 added prize money for the team events, as the top four teams will win money as well as the top two teams for each event.and 3,000, and his head coach doesn’t mince words when talking about his place in the history of the school.

“He’s the best boy distance runner I’ve ever had,” Enterprise head man Dan Moody said.

Helping Ribich raise the bar even higher in his final season at Enterprise was increase in size that stemmed from his attitude.

“He has a tremendous work ethic,” Moody said. “He sets really hard goals for himself and works toward them. He’s gained 20 pounds since last year, and physically that’s really helped give him more speed.”
