BRIEFLY: Brennan biographer appears in Joseph

JOSEPH — The Josephy Center will host Carl Rollyson, who is working on a biography of long-time Wallowa County rancher and Hollywood actor Walter Brennan, at 5 p.m. Wednesday. Rollyson has biographies of Marilyn Monroe, Norman Mailer, and Dana Andrews to his credit, and teaches the craft at a New York university. 

The event begins with a finger food potluck. Rollyson will discuss his research into Brennan’s New England roots and Hollywood career, and local family members, friends and aficionados of the noted actor will share their stories. The evening will cap off with video clips from Brennan’s career.

The Josephy Center is on Main Street in Joseph. The event is free and open to the public.

Republicans set monthly meeting 

The Union County Republicans monthly meeting will take place at a new meeting time, 7 p.m. Wednesday at the campaign office, 1405 Washington Ave. 

Topics to be covered include the Elgin Stampede Parade, the Huckleberry Festival, the Union County Fair Booth clean up and repairs, re-opening the office at 1405 Washington Ave., candidate support, elections and winning in November.

LHS Class of 1984 plans 30-year reunion

Meteorite scientist presents program

JOSEPH — Internationally acclaimed meteorite scientist Dick Pugh will present a program at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Joseph Public Library for anyone interested in rocks from outer space. 

Pugh will bring $10,000 worth of meteorites for the public to pick up and handle and will give a power point program showing what to look for when searching for meteorites.  

The program is free and open to all ages. 

Union School Board will meet Wednesday

UNION — The Union School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the high school athletic complex. Lunch prices will be one of the topics discussed.
