Two people were assaulted with a knife yesterday at Hot Lake Lane.

The Union County Sheriff's Office responded to an assault in progress at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. The suspect, Scotty Allen Kassel, 25, was taken without incident.

The victims, both in their 70s, who were said to have been "seriously assaulted," were treated at the scene and transported to Grande Ronde Hospital, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. Their names are not being released at this time. The victims were related to the suspect.

The female victim is said to still be at the hospital, said Sheriff Boyd Rasmussen. The male victim has been released, he said.
