Nobody was injured but two semi trucks sustained significant damage in an accident Thursday morning around 10 a.m. about six miles east of La Grande on Interstate 84.
The accident occurred when a semi truck traveling west side swiped a semi parked on the shoulder of the north side lane. The moving semi then careened off the freeway on to a field. It ran through a barbed wired fence and traveled about 100 feet before stopping on its side, The trailer and the truck were both extensivley damaged.
Each of the trucks had at least one other passenger.
"It is amazing that nobody was hurt,'' said Oregon State Police Sgt. Kyle Hove.
The semi that landed in the field had South Carolina license plates, and the one that was parked was from Kent, Washington.
Hove said that the driver of the semi that landed in the field was reported by a witness to be weaving before the crash.
