IMBLER — The community is invited to a special Imbler Christian Church service with guests Dan and Janet Clark at 10 a.m. The Clarks will discuss their recent Operation Christmas Child trip to Zambia to deliver shoeboxes.
Lutherans celebrate 500th anniversary of Reformation Day
The sermon at Faith Lutheran Church will use the parable from Matthew 21:33-46, in which the master had plenty of reasons for respecting his son, just as we have many reasons to respect God’s son, Jesus Christ.
The service in La Grande will be at 10 a.m. and the one in Enterprise will be at 2 p.m.
The La Grande congregation’s Sunday morning Bible study at 8:45 a.m. will feature a Lutheran Hour production called “A Man Named Martin.” This is a celebration of the 500th anniversary of Reformation Day, recognizing when Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany.
In Enterprise, the production will be provided at 11 a.m. on Oct. 12 and 26.
Bible challenge group meets after service
St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in La Grande will celebrate Holy Eucharist at 9 a.m. The Rev. Kathryn Macek will preside and preach.
The Bible challenge group will meet after the service. Sunday at 6 p.m. the book club will meet in the parish hall.
At 8:30 a.m. in the chapel, Centering Prayer will be offered on Tuesday and Morning Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer will be offered on Thursday. A midweek Eucharist will be offered Wednesday at 12:15 p.m., also in the chapel.
Wednesday night brings devotion and prayer time
COVE — At the Calvary Baptist Church in Cove, Sunday school will be held at 10 a.m. The service will follow at 11 a.m., and there will also be a 6 p.m. evening service.
A women’s Bible study will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Monday. Women are also invited to join in the late-morning “Ladies Project Time” on Wednesday. At 7 p.m. on Wednesday, a time of devotions and prayer will be open to all.
Overcome self-doubt and achieve victory
The La Grande Church of the Nazarene worship service begins at 10:30 a.m. Pastor Tony Carmon will speak on Judges 6-8, recounting how God helped Gideon overcome self-doubt and eventually find victory through trust and acts of obedience. Sunday school is offered at 9:15 a.m.
Neighbors Together meets on Monday
Zion Lutheran Church in La Grande will worship at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Colleen Nelson. A children’s class will be held during the service. Fellowship and fair trade coffee will follow.
Monday at 5:30 p.m. Neighbors Together will meet, and Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. there will be a non-denominational Bible study in the fellowship hall.
United Methodist has guest speaker
COVE — The United Methodist Church in Cove will welcome Mary Cloutier to the 9 a.m. service. Her message will be “Love and Laughter.” Coffee and fellowship will follow the service with a business meeting to follow.
Fresh Food Alliance is offered at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. The Food Pantry will be open Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Both will be downstairs in the fellowship hall.
Sermon: Miraculous power that satisfies
Jesus Christ performed the miracle of feeding more than 5,000 people with just a few loaves of bread and a couple of fish. At Saturday’s 11 a.m. service at the La Grande Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Mike will focus on the amazing things God has yet for us to experience by his miraculous power that satisfies like nothing else.
International Peacemaker shares experience tonight
During the 9:30 a.m. worship service at La Grande’s First Presbyterian Church, Pastor Keith Hudson will deliver a message based on Genesis 22:1-14.
Delia Leal, an International Peacemaker from Guatemala, will be a guest speaker tonight at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. All are invited to hear her share her experiences.
A fellowship dinner at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Presbyterian Friendship Center is open to the community.
