Early Saturday morning truck accident closes I-84
Nobody was injured in a truck crash and fire on Interstate 84 six miles west of La Grande early Saturday morning.
The truck was pulling a trailer that caught fire after it slid against a concrete barrier. Friction from the slide ignited the fire, said Larry Wooldridge, chief of the La Grande Rural Fire Department, who responded to the call.
The truck, which was transporting produce, had no passengers.
The accident caused the eastbound lanes of I84 to be closed to Exit 216, six miles east of Pendleton, according to the Oregon Department of Transportation. The La Grande and Imbler fire departments also responded to the crash and fire.
Firefighters were at the scene until about 4 a.m.
Nobody hurt in Boise Cascade fire

The fire originated in some wood stored inside a Boise Cascade building and caused no structural damage, Wooldridge said. Four fire departments responded to the blaze: the La Grande, La Grande Rural, Imbler and Union fire departments. The firefighters were aided by an automatic sprinkler system at Boise Cascade, which was running when they arrived. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
