A former city recorder for Island City pleaded not guilty to a series of felony charges in Union County Circuit Court Tuesday.
Judy Rygg faces eight felony counts of first-degree theft, nine felony counts of computer crime, a misdemeanor count of second-degree theft, and one count each of official misconduct in the first degree and tampering with public records.
An investigation into Rygg by Oregon State Police during the 2015-2016 fiscal year focused on incidents
occurring during the span of a six-year period that resulted in a city budget shortfall of more than $43,000.
A report from an Oregon Government Ethics Commission investigation determined that Rygg had made unauthorized purchases using city bank accounts.
