It is from the springs of a mother’s pure love that life springs forth. Our mothers are the keepers of the springs.

Eternal inheritance is for the taking

LA GRANDE — At the 11 a.m. Saturday service at the La Grande Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Mike will teach that Jesus Christ is not only a substitute for sin. The Bible reveals he is much more, and that it is because of our connection with him that everyone now has an eternal inheritance for the taking. Bible study is offered before the service at 9:30 a.m.

The free Hope Through Prophecy seminar continues on Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the conference room at Community Connection, corner of Cove Avenue and Albany Street. This eight-week seminar systematically explores the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation and is open to the community.

Neighbors Together meets Monday at Zion

LA GRANDE — Zion Lutheran Church in La Grande will worship at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Colleen Nelson. Fellowship and fair trade coffee follow the service.

Neighbors Together will meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday. At 9 a.m. Tuesday there will be a meeting of the Quilters as they continue sewing quilts to donate to Lutheran World Relief. The non-denominational Bible study will be held at 6:15 Tuesday evening.

Youth group sells coffee to raise funds for mission trip

LA GRANDE — The congregation of La Grande’s First Presbyterian Church will honor mothers during the 9:30 a.m. service. Pastor Laura Hudson will be talking about how to “Open the Eyes of Your Heart.” During the fellowship hour after the worship service, members of the youth group who are going on a mission trip to Los Angeles will be selling coffee to raise funds for their trip.

Mothers honored during fellowship after service

COVE — Grace Community Lutheran Church in Cove will celebrate God’s word and Mother’s Day with a special worship service at 10 a.m. Pastor Carl’s sermon, “Sanctify Them,” will be taken from John 17. During the time of fellowship after the service, the mothers of the church will be honored. Adult Sunday school is held at 9 a.m.

The men’s Bible study, which is studying the Book of Revelation, meets at the City Hall in Island City every Thursday at 10 a.m.

SHINE Preschool taking registration for next fall

LA GRANDE, ENTERPRISE — The sermon at Faith Lutheran Church will expound upon Jesus’ high priestly prayer in John 17. In these verses, Jesus assures us as he prays, “I have given them Your Word.” Christians do well to receive this encouragement for the world is not welcoming to God’s holiness. Services will be held in La Grande at 10 a.m. and in Enterprise at 2 p.m.

Mothers treated to gifts, special music

LA GRANDE — The La Grande First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will honor the women of the church with a special gift for Mother’s Day during the 10 a.m. service. Pastor Ray Smith’s message, “In God’s Image,” referring to Genesis 1:27, will look at how we are all created in the image of God. The service will also include a musical tribute to mothers by Mandy Treanor and Joelle Trotter.
