A new lodging option for those visiting Eastern Oregon for the Aug. 21 solar eclipse is soon to be available, with Eastern Oregon University opening up space in its residential halls for visitors.

The university is also planning on connecting visitors with the community through its outdoor program and will provide brochures about what there is to do around town.

The rooms are available for rental from Aug. 19 through Aug. 22 for $500 total, which must be paid in full at the time of reservation. The rooms hold up to five people and include kitchenettes, with a full refrigerator and microwave.

“We want to make sure people can enjoy all that La Grande and the surrounding area has to offer,” Lacy Karpilo, EOU’s director of student affairs, said.
