It was a strong weekend for the Special Olympics Oregon-Union County golf team and track and field team at the annual Special Olympics Oregon Summer Games Saturday and Sunday in Corvallis.

Two of Union County’s golf teams earned gold medals at the Summer Games at Trysting Tree Golf Club.

“Special Olympics Oregon put on a very special State Games,” coach Pam Thompson said. “From the opening ceremonies to the last days (of) competition, it was awesome and something we will never forget. Corvallis and the OSU staff made us feel extraordinary.”
