The La Grande swim team opened the season with 12 victories in 17 races at the Madras Relays Saturday.

LHS came away with the boys team title scoring 238 points. LHS was second on the girls side with 320 points.

For the boys team, Makhail Tritchka, Caden Ricker, Kevin Eckhoff and Logan Flynn picked up a victory in the 100 freestyle relay in 51.39 seconds. Nolan Clements, Lance Denny, Garren Dutto and Dan Felley took the 4-by-100 individual medley relay in 4 minutes, 6.82 seconds. And Denny, Ricker, Micah Sexton and Tritchka won the 200 breaststroke relay in 2:20.80.

The LHS girls won five races. Aryana Bouten, Kristal Jensen, Angelina Kapernok and Abbey Tweten claimed the 200 butterfly relay in 2:12.29. Bouten, Rachael Keniry, Romayne Ricker and Riley Weigand took the 200 backstroke relay, also in 2:12.29. Anna Gambill, Ricker, Riana Scott and Tweten won the 4-by-100 IM relay in 4:45.93. Bouten, Kapernok, Laramie Ricker and Weigand took first in the 100 medley relay in 1:07.42. And Scott, Gambill, Romayne Ricker and Tweten cruised to victory in the 200 breaststroke relay in 2:26.07.

The Tigers also took four of the five mixed gender races. Jensen, Romayne Ricker, Clements and Tritchka won the 200 medley relay in 1:54.68. Dutto, Jensen, Scott and Clements turned in a time of 8:09.45 to win the 800 freestyle relay by nearly 40 seconds. Jensen, Weigand, Clements and Flynn won the 400 freestyle relay in 4:01.54. And in the final race of the day, Lara Insko, Scott, Dutto and Felley took first in the 400 medley relay in 4:25.20.
