Volleyball roundup: EOU sweeps No. 8 Yotes

Also Powder Valley, Cove, Enterprise among local prep winners

No. 12 Eastern Oregon wasn't about to drop two matches in a row at home.

Amanda Miller had 14 kills, Megan Bunn added nine and the Mountaineers topped No. 8 College of Idaho in straight sets, 25-19, 25-14, 26-24, Friday night at Quinn Coliseum.

Emily Nay added seven kills for EOU, which moved into a tie for first place with Corban in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with the victory. Madisen Garlie led the defense with seven blocks. Isabelle Statkus added five. Kiley McMurtrey had 12 digs and Malia Mills recorded nine, while Madison Pilon and Abby Smith had 20 and 19 assists, respectively.

The Yotes were led by Ashley Pagan, who had 13 kills and 12 digs. Jackie Van Vliet had three blocks and Drew Dobney put up 17 assists.

Powder Valley 3, Joseph 2: The Badgers won their second five-set thriller over the Eagles in eight days, eking out a 25-22, 26-24, 16-25, 19-25, 18-16 win over Joseph Friday in North Powder.

Powder Valley moved to 5-0 in the Old Oregon League with the win, and solidified its hold on the top seed in the OOL. Joseph (5-2 OOL) slipped into a tie for second with Echo.

Echo 3, Wallowa 0: Echo avenged an earlier loss to Wallowa with a 25-11, 25-22, 25-21 OOL road victory. The loss was Wallowa's third in a row.

Grant Union 3, Union 0: The Prospectors earned a sweep in the battle for first place in the Wapiti League by topping the Bobcats, 25-12, 25-23, 27-25. The loss ended Union's nine-game winning streak.

Enterprise 3, Elgin 0: The Outlaws earned their first Wapiti League win by topping the Huskies, 25-9, 25-8, 25-22.

Cove wins two: The Leopards got back on track with a pair of OOL home wins, topping Pine Eagle 25-4, 25-9, 25-12, and Nixyaawii 25-5, 25-12, 25-13.
