A power outage caused by a broken transmission insulator near Hot Lake affected 4,955 Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative customers in Union County for several hours Wednesday evening and for some places into early Thursday morning.

Wind might have contributed to the insulator damage, according to OTEC.

The outage, which started at 7:30 p.m., affected the Union, Cove, Elgin, Summerville and Imbler areas, OTEC reported.

Power was restored to the Imbler, Elgin, and Summerville areas by about 9:23 p.m.

All other areas had their power restored by 12:45 a.m. today.
