Albert Wayne Johnson, 36, is being held on $100,000 bail after he was arrested on charges of first-degree online sexual corruption of a child, second-degree encouraging child sex abuse, luring a minor, third-degree attempted sex abuse and endangering the welfare of a minor.
Union County Deputy District Attorney Greg Baxter originally requested $250,000 bail due to the nature of the crimes, saying they were “the equivalent of a sex crime.” Baxter said the charges are not at the “level of Measure 11 crimes,” which charges like rape would be.
La Grande Police Department Lt. Gary Bell said the investigators had been working on Johnson’s case for a month and a half before the arrest was made. The investigation is ongoing, he said, but most of the case has been turned over to the DA’s office. He added there is one victim in the case.
