There are lots of options for Halloween fun around La Grande.

The annual safe Trick or Treat event is back Oct. 31 thanks to La Grande Main Street Downtown.

The event is held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., before the sun sets, and the roads are closed to ensure safety of children and families.

Participating businesses open their doors to hand out candy to children. Businesses not located on Adams Avenue participate in the simultaneous Trunk-or-Treat, during which representatives of La Grande shops park vehicles in the streets to hand out treats.

There will be a costume contest with prizes at 5:30 p.m.

Trick-or-treating is also offered in the Alikut, Daugherty and North residence halls on the EOU campus, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and includes a scavenger hunt, monster mash cake walk, pin the bone on the skeleton and other spooky games. Daugherty Hall is geared for up to 7 years old, Alikut Hall for ages 7-12, and North Hall entertains ages 12 and older. Enter the event area using the Sixth Street entrance by community stadium.

The La Grande High School FBLA and the Center for Human Development are sponsoring their annual Halloween Carnival from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the high school commons. This event is intended for kids in fifth grade and younger and will feature numerous booths with lots of prizes and candy.
