Discussion about the impact of food choices offered at EOU
LA GRANDE — Oregon boasts a multibillion-dollar agricultural economy that includes both industrial agriculture and small-scale efforts such as community supported agriculture memberships, farmers’ markets and community gardens. These smaller, community-based efforts are on the rise as a means to nurture community and create local and autonomous food systems. OTEC offers Pumping System Optimization training
LA GRANDE — Oregon Trail Electric Cooperative will host a Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance Pumping System Optimization training June 27 in La Grande. The aim of the training session is to show area businesses how they can save thousands each year by utilizing a few simple energy efficiency upgrades. The training is also critical for local irrigation users.

Invasive plant treatments begin
The Wallowa-Whitman National Forest has begun an integrated approach of manual, mechanical, herbicide, biological control and culture treatments to reduce the risk of invasive species expanding on the forest. Treatment of the forest is expected to continue through October. At the time of treatment, segments of the forest will be signed and proposed treatment site maps can be found online at www.fs.usda.gov/wallowa-whitman.
