DAR state officials attend Friday meeting

Kids Night Out open to kindergarten through 8th grade
LA GRANDE — The next Kids Night Out will run from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. April 12 at Quinn Coliseum on the EOU campus in La Grande. Sponsored by the EOU women’s basketball team, the event is open to children in kindergarten through 8th grade and will feature indoor activities such as basketball, soccer, scooter bowling, bingo, movies, dancing and rock climbing. All areas will be well supervised, and professionals certified in first aid and CPR will be on-site. Cost is $10 per child. Concessions will be available, including a $3 “meal deal” of a hot dog, chips and a drink. Rummage and bake sale benefits scholarships
WALLOWA — The Tamkaliks Committee is hosting its annual scholarship fundraiser rummage and bake sale this weekend. The sale will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 12 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13 at the Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland Visitor Center, 209 E. Second St., Wallowa. Wyden keeps true to town hall promise, visits Saturday
LA GRANDE — U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden will hold town halls this weekend in Union, Malheur, Morrow and Gilliam counties. Wyden has held 933 town halls statewide overall since promising Oregonians that he would hold at least one annual town hall in each of the state’s 36 counties. This year he won a second straight MVP award from the Town Hall Project for holding the most town halls of any senator in 2018.
Wyden’s Union County town hall will begin at 5:30 p.m. April 13 at the Union County Senior Center, 1504 N. Albany St., La Grande. During the event, Byron Whipple, Union County Veteran Service officer, will be honored by Senator Wyden.
Register now for hands-on raw food prep class
LA GRANDE — A “Raw Food Prep” class with Chef Tim James and Blake Bars will be held at 4 p.m. April 14 at Nature’s Pantry, 1907 Fourth St., La Grande. Participants in this interactive class will make their own raw wraps and dressings. The cost is $10 and includes ingredients and recipes. Space is limited.
