LHS Class of 1954 meets for lunch

LA GRANDE — Members of the La Grande High School Class of 1954 will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. April 17 at the Flying J Restaurant outside La Grande.

Families invited to honor roll assemblies

LA GRANDE — Families of students named to the La Grande Middle School’s honor roll for the third quarter are invited to attend assemblies April 17-19 in the LMS gym. Each assembly begins at 8:25 a.m. The sixth-grade assembly will be held Wednesday. Thursday’s assembly is for seventh- and eighth-grade students with these advisory teachers: Bedolla, Carson, Fritz, Leavitt, Patrick, Remily, Singer and Thurman. Friday’s assembly is for seventh- and eighth-grade students with these advisory teachers: Bisenius, Benson, Foggia, Kretschmer, Lair, McIlmoil, Nickerson and Schow. The students earning a place on the honor roll are listed on the community page of today’s paper.

Town hall focuses on underage drinking

LA GRANDE — Union County Safe Communities encourages the community to attend “Parenting Is Prevention: A Town Hall on Underage Drinking” at 5:30 p.m. April 19 at the La Grande Middle School, 1108 Fourth St. The free event will feature information specific to Union County and special guest speakers, Union County Sheriff’s Office deputies Cody Bowen and Tony Humphries, and Kevin Loveland. Veterans Appreciation Fair to be held Wednesday

ENTERPRISE — Veterans, their families and the public are invited to a Veterans Appreciation Fair April 17 at the Enterprise VFW Hall, 800 N. River St. The free event will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will celebrate veterans with a taco feed, live music by Last Call, and information on community resources and employment opportunities for veterans.

Alleluia Bells concert chases away tax day blues

LA GRANDE — The Alleluia Bells’ spring concert begins at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the La Grande First Presbyterian Church, 1308 Washington Ave. The bell concert is a musical journey around the world with selections from different countries and places. The event is free. An ecumenical group, Alleluia Bells has been ringing for the enjoyment of the community for many years.
