Tomorrow’s homeschool panel open to all
LA GRANDE — A Homeschool Panel and informational gathering will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 21 at Valley Fellowship, 507 Palmer Ave., La Grande. The event is open to all current or prospective homeschool parents and will feature a panel of experienced parents to answer questions plus displays of sample curriculum and information about local groups. The event is sponsored by the Union County Christian Home Educators, an affiliate of OCEANetwork (www.oceanetwork.org.)
Ice cream social celebrates Older Americans month
LA GRANDE — An ice cream social in celebration of Older Americans Month is planned for May 23 at the Union County Senior Center, 1504 N. Albany St., La Grande. The community is invited to stop by between 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. The event is part of a campaign to recognize the ongoing positive contributions of older Americans and to make more seniors aware of what the senior center offers.
LG Swim Club registers new members for summer
LA GRANDE — La Grande Swim Club is offering an opportunity for new members to register for the summer, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. May 22 at Veterans’ Memorial Pool, 401 Palmer, La Grande. Members who are already swimming with the club do not need to attend. The swim club’s summer schedule of morning practice begins June 10. New swimmers may register for a two-week trial for $25 after they have passed the swim test administered by lifeguards. Outdoor skills series teaches navigation
WALLOWA LAKE — A series of outdoor skills training continues at Wallowa Lake State Park with a course on navigation May 25. The free class runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will cover navigating by map, compass and landmarks. These skills will then be tested in the sport of orienteering.
