The weather in Union and Wallowa counties is expected to be mild and dry this weekend, according to the National Weather Service office in Pendleton.
There will be a possibility of snow at 5,000 feet but conditions will be dry everywhere else, NWS meteorologist Rob Brooks said.
The forecast calls for a high of 63 degrees today in La Grande and a low of 37, while Friday is expected to reach 69 with a low of 43 and Saturday's high will be 60 with a low of 39. Sunday will see a bit of a cooling off with a high reaching only 55 and a low of 33.
There is a chance of wind gusts reaching 23 miles per hour in Union County late Friday through Saturday afternoon.
Brooks said temperatures in La Grande have yet to dip below 28 degrees which is considered a hard freeze.
"A hard freeze has an impact on temperature sensitive plants,” he said.
The earliest La Grande has had a hard freeze is Sept. 14, 1970, and the latest was Nov. 8, 2014, according to National Weather Service records.
