Greenway Committee meets Friday

ISLAND CITY — A regular meeting of the Greenway Exploration Committee will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 16 at Island City City Hall. The agenda includes a discussion on the walk-through issue. If any comments from the public are allowed, they will be limited to five minutes per person for the last 30 minutes of the meeting.

Library welcomes teens for free iCraft

LA GRANDE — Cook Memorial Library is offering Teen iCraft at 4 p.m. Feb. 16 for anyone in middle or high school. Teens will make Sharpie Tiles during this free, one-hour activity in the Community Room. Supplies are provided and registration is not needed. LA GRANDE — The community is invited to a dance Saturday evening at the Union County Senior Center, 1504 N. Albany St., La Grande. Admission is $3 at the door. The dance will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 17 and will include door prizes and live music by Terry LaMont. Those who attend are encouraged to bring a dish to share for a potluck.

Celebrate, Educate and Appreciate at EOU Saturday

LA GRANDE — Feb. 17 is the annual Celebrate, Educate and Appreciate Conference at Eastern Oregon University. This year’s keynote speaker is Amy Irby-Shasanmi, assistant professor of sociology at the University of West Georgia. She will share her work on the ways in which racism and discrimination get “under your skin” and impact one’s physical and mental health. Walk raises money to help your neighbors stay warm

LA GRANDE — The 10th annual Union County Walk for Warmth is scheduled for Feb. 17 at the Union County Senior Center, 1504 Albany St., La Grande. Swim for $1 on Presidents’ Day

LA GRANDE — The community is invited to swim at the Veterans’ Memorial Pool in La Grande for $1 on Presidents’ Day, Feb. 19. During the recreational swim time from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., admission is only $1 on Monday. The pool is at 401 Palmer Ave., on the south side of Pioneer Park.

Masonic Lodge hosts Sweetheart Breakfast

COVE — Cove Masonic Lodge #91 invites the community to its annual Sweetheart Breakfast, which will be served from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Feb. 17 at the lodge, 111 Jasper St. All-you-can-eat pancakes plus ham and eggs will be served for $6.
