+LA GRANDE — The First United Methodist Church in La Grande will celebrate the 11th Sunday of Pentecost at 10 a.m. Pastor Al Trachsel will preach from John 6:24-35. The sermon title will be “Coming to Christ for the Right Reasons.”

Jesus said he is the bread of life, and those that eat of that bread will never hunger again. Fellowship will follow the service.

Church begins three-week sermon series on John 6

LA GRANDE — The sermons at Faith Lutheran Church for the next three Sundays will be based on John 6. In these scriptures, Jesus shows himself to be the bread of heaven and explains what this means. This Sunday there will be a monthly potluck and elders’ meeting following the service.

Grace Community holds service at Methodist Church

COVE — Grace Community Lutheran Church will hold its worship service Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Cove at 10 a.m. Pastor Carl’s sermon title will be “I Am the Bread of Life,” taken from John 6, where Jesus is asked by the people what they can do to please God. He answers that they must first believe in the son of God. Fellowship will follow the service. There will be no Sunday school. Transportation is available.

Zion Lutheran offers fellowship time

LA GRANDE — Zion Lutheran Church in
La Grande will worship Sunday at 9:30 a.m. with Pastor Colleen Nelson. Fellowship and fair trade coffee will follow the service.

Tuesday at 9 a.m. the Quilters will gather and at 6:15 p.m. a non-denominational Bible study will meet. Both meetings will be held at the church.

Panel of teachers discuss classroom creativity

LA GRANDE — The La Grande First Presbyterian congregation has been experiencing a summer of “Creation, Creativity and Community” in their pastors’ absence. The theme will continue this week when a panel of teachers, led by Laurie Graves, will discuss “Creativity in the Classroom.” The service begins at 9:30 a.m. and will be followed by a fellowship time.

Free concert brings message of hope

LA GRANDE — This Sunday at the La Grande Church of the Nazarene there will be a special
service featuring Jerry
Nelson, an international piano artist and arranger, who will perform a free concert and bring a message of hope and salvation. The service and concert begin at 10:30 a.m.
