Medicare Part D workshops offered

ISLAND CITY — Medicare’s open enrollment period is coming soon, and the Oregon Senior Health Insurance Benefits Assistance Program will be in La Grande this week to help people find the Medicare drug plan (called Part D) that’s right for their needs and budget. Two sessions of the free workshop will be offered — from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Oct. 12 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 13 — both at the Lighthouse Church, 10501 W First St. (Island Avenue), Island City.

There are many Part D plans to compare, and they can change each year. People’s medication needs also change, so that keeping up with which drugs are covered by which plans, and how fully, can be daunting. The Medicare experts from Oregon SHIBA can ease that frustration. To attend, call 800-722-4134 (toll-free) or email .
