LA GRANDE —  Home delivery of the Wednesday edition of the Observer will not arrive until tonight or Thursday morning.

Subscribers, however, can access the e-edition of The Observer and the paper’s other online products 24/7. If you need assistance with that, call 541-963-3161 and request the circulation department.

Winter weather prompted the Oregon Department of Transportation to shut down Interstate 84 from Pendleton to La Grande starting around 9:30 in the morning. ODOT pushed the closure at one point all the way to Ontario and subsequently closed other state roads due to the weather.

While the freeways are open, travel could be slow going due to click roads and heavy semitrailer traffic. Some newspaper carriers could deliver papers Wednesday night, but others may wait until Thursday morning, depending on the route, weather and concerns for safety.

The state road department advised drivers to slow down and use extra caution. For updates, check TripCheck.com or call 511 / 800-977-6368. Outside Oregon, call 503-588-2941.
