Dorothy Elaine Bruce, 86, of Union, died Jan. 30 at her residence. As she requested, there will not be a service.

Dorothy was born Jan. 17, 1934, in Shasta, California, to Sven and Dorothy (Morgan) Rylander. She was raised in Northern California. She married Henry Bruce Sept. 18, 1953, in Reno, Nevada. Dorothy and Henry moved to Union in 1987 from Milwaukie.

Dorothy loved to raise flower and vegetable gardens. She was also a fabulous cook. Her real passion was quilting. She made many quilts for family and friends.

Dorothy and Henry often traveled to Alaska, where they enjoyed fishing with her son and family. Dorothy also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving relatives include her son and daughter-in-law, Curt and Liz Bruce of Ketchikan, Alaska; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, and parents, Sven and Dorothy.
