The Eastern Oregon volleyball team got back on the winning track, as the 10th-ranked Mountaineers took care of Walla Walla in Cascade Collegiate Conference play Tuesday, 25-17, 25-12, 25-23, to wrap up their 13-game season-opening road trip.

Jet Taylor had 12 kills to lead the Mountaineers’ attack, while Cambree Scott added nine kills and four block assists.

EOU raced out to the first eight points of the match and never looked back. The Mountaineers led by 10 points on several occasions in the first set — 18-8 on a Megan Bunn kill, 20-10 on a kill by Taylor Tibbetts and 23-13 on a Sade Williams ace.

Eastern started the
second set just a fast, scoring the first seven points and taking a 12-2 lead on a Breanna Shaffer kill. A Taylor kill and two attack errors on Walla Walla pushed the margin to as much as 24-9 late in the second set.

EOU went deep into its bench in the final set, and still put up as much as an eight-point lead before the Wolves closed in. A 6-1 run made it 24-23 late, but Williams ended the match on the next point with a kill.

Bunn added seven kills for EOU. Madison Pilon had 25 assists, and Kiley McMurtrey tallied 19 assists.

EOU (12-1 overall, 2-1 CCC) hosts College of Idaho Thursday in its home opener.
