LA GRANDE — The Mountaineers have earned another weekly award.

Eastern Oregon University women’s soccer player Kara Gooderham was named Cascade Collegiate Conference defensive player of the week on Monday, Oct. 11, 2021. The nomination comes in the wake of a victory over Rocky Mountain College, in which Gooderham, a former La Grande High School standout, helped the Mountaineers shut out the Battlin’ Bears 3-0.

Eastern held Rocky Mountain to just two shots on goal, improving to 9-2-0 overall and 6-1-0 in conference play. The win marks the seventh time this season that the Mountaineers have shut out an opponent.

Eastern is tied for first place in the conference with the College of Idaho with five regular season conference games remaining on the schedule. The Mountaineers will host Oregon Tech on Oct. 15 at Community Stadium.
