Eastern Oregon’s stellar start to the season suffered a setback Monday as Whitworth scored three second-half goals for a 4-1 win, handing EOU its first loss of the season.

Moi Diaz scored the difference-maker for the Pirates in the 51st minute for a 2-1 lead. His goal came just 24 seconds after Josh Goodman had scored the tying goal for the Mountaineers.

Jonah Snyder scored his second goal of the game later in the second half, then assisted Sam McKay on a late goal for the final margin.

Whitworth edged EOU in shots on goal, 7-6. Both teams attempted 13 shots on the afternoon. EOU keeper Aidan Wright recorded three saves in the loss.
