The Eastern Oregon women’s wrestling team rode the momentum of winning the first four matches to a 27-21 dual victory over Southern Oregon Friday night at Quinn Coliseum.

Lisa Megargee opened the action with a 10-0 technical fall over Jade Martin at 101 pounds. Leah Olsen edged Nikki Mae Sumagang by an 8-6 decision at 109, and both Amber Pair (116) and Jessica DeHart (123) picked up victories by fall. Pair earned her pin in the final seconds against Olivia Loppolo while DeHart dropped Nevina DeLuca in the first round.

Alexis Cavero and Madison Bozovich added victories by forfeit for the final tally for the Mountaineers.

The EOU men, meanwhile, hung with the Raiders most of the night before SOU finished strong by taking the final four matches en route to a 27-18 victory.

Mhar Caballa opened with a 6-1 decision over Trey Long at 125. Blake McNall added a forfeit victory at 133. Drake Randall scored a close 6-3 decision over Chandler Michael at 157, and Jacob Dupuis dominated Cody Stahl before finishing him off with a pin in the second round at 165.

That gave EOU an 18-6 lead, but the Raiders found their stride late, winning the last four matches with two pins, a technical fall and a major decision.

The Mountaineers return to action Sunday at the Spokane Open.
