LA GRANDE — Paige Dodd took second in the pentathlon Friday to lead a quartet of Eastern Oregon University female athletes in the Lauren McCluskey Multis, in Moscow, Idaho, while Jonah Coats took fourth Friday and Saturday in the heptathlon to lead the EOU men.

Dodd scored 3,402 points to finish behind only Kristen O’Handley of Portland State University (3,575). The senior took second in the high jump (5 feet, 3-1/4 inches), the long jump (17-feet-8-1/4), and the 60-meter hurdles (9.39 seconds), and also was third in the shot put (33-feet-8-3/4), and fourth in the 800 (2:36.91). 

Olivia Lane scored 3,085 points to take fourth. Her best event was the 800, where she took second in 2:28.14. She was also fifth in the shot put (31-feet-10-3/4) and long jump (16-feet-1-1/2), sixth in the high jump (4-feet-11-3/4), and ninth in the 60 hurdles (10.18).

Cheyanne Collins placed sixth with 2,952 points. She topped out at fourth in the high jump at 5-feet-1, took sixth in the 800 (2:38.62) and the shot put (31-feet-3), seventh in the long jump (15-feet-7) and eighth in the 60 hurdles (10.09). 

Karli Bedard, in her first-ever pentathlon for EOU, scored 2,418 points for 11th. The freshman was ninth in the high jump (4-feet-10-1/2) and shot put (27-feet-1/2), 10th in the long jump (13-feet-7) and 800 (2:45.34), and 11th in the 60 hurdles (10.98).

On the men’s side, Coats scored 4,435 points to place fourth in the two-day heptathlon. He placed second in the long jump (20-feet-7) and tied for second in the pole vault (14-feet-5-1/4). He was also eighth in the shot put (34-feet-10-1/2) and the high jump (5-feet-9-1/4), and 10th in the 60 (7.69), the 1,000 (3:05.29) and the 60 hurdles (9.33).

Sam Roddewig placed 13th with 3,646 points. Roddewig was second in the 1,000 (2:57.19), seventh in the 60 hurdles (9.15), eighth in the 60 (7.53), 10th in the shot put (33-feet-9-1/2) and 12th in the long jump (18-feet-7) and the high jump (5-feet-7-3/4). He did not clear a height in the pole vault.

Eastern returns to the track Saturday at the Bronco Invite in Boise, Idaho.
