ASHLAND — The top-ranked Southern Oregon Raiders completed a sweep of Eastern Oregon Saturday, taking down the Mountaineers 12-4 in the opener of the doubleheader and final Cascade Collegiate Conference game of the series and winning the nonconference nightcap, 8-0.

EOU hung close for 4-1/2 innings in the opener Saturday. Haley Ebner twice knocked in Alaina Carson with RBI singles — once in the first for a 1-0 lead, and again in the third for a 2-1 margin. Taylor Dow, who had a sacrifice fly to drive in the only run EOU managed Friday, added her own RBI single for a 3-1 advantage. SOU scored three times in the fourth to take the lead, but Carson scored her third run of the game in the fifth, this time on an RBI groundout by Jordan Henley.

Then the Raiders put the game away with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth, taking advantage of three EOU errors along the way. Lauren Quirke started the scoring with an RBI single, and Hannah Shimek ended the rally — and the game — with a walkoff RBI double.

Ebner, Dow and Carson all had two hits.

Eastern managed just one hit in the second game — Haley Crudo’s single leading off the fourth — and the Raiders scored in each of the first three innings to quickly put the game away.

EOU (3-15 overall, 2-4 CCC) host University of British Columbia Friday and Saturday.
