Claire Hardy had a game-high 18 kills, leading the La Grande volleyball team to a sweep of Ontario for its first Greater Oregon League victory, 25-15, 25-13, 25-6, Saturday.

Kelsey Brown added four kills and four aces for the Tigers. Alyssa McDowell had 14 digs and six aces and Liz Cashell had 22 digs and three aces. Kenzie Williams led the way with 15 assists and Haley Hatley had 11.

La Grande (5-4 overall, 1-1 GOL) travels to the Sister Tournament Saturday.

Elgin goes 2-2 at Riverside: Taylor Noble has 12 kills to lead Elgin to two wins at the Riverside Tournament.

Elgin suffered losses to White Salmon (20-13, 20-13) and South Wasco (25-11, 25-11), but came back to secure wins over McLoughlin (20-12, 20-18) and Stanfield (25-19, 25-18). The Huskies finished the tournament with a 14-20, 20-16 tie with Ione.

Elgin (3-5 overall) visits Imbler Tuesday.

Leopards go 1-1 at North Powder: Cove earned a 25-11, 25-14 win over Pine Eagle during Day 2 of the Powder Valley Tournament, the was unable to keep up the momentum and suffered a 25-16, 20-25, 15-13 loss to Prairie City. Individual stats were not provided.

Cove (5-6 overall) hosts Wallowa Thursday.


La Grande reached the semifinals of the Baker Tournament before falling to the hometown Bulldogs, 25-22, 25-13.

Riana Scott led the way with five kills for the Tigers, while Jayce Seavert and Liz Cashell each had 14 digs.

The Tigers beat New Plymouth in the quarterfinals, 25-16, 25-17, behind six kills from Claire Hardy.

In pool play the Tigers split with Grant Union (25-14, 20-25), beat Ontario (25-11, 25-8) and split with Weiser (25-11 23-25).

Powder Valley fares well: The Badgers had a total of 89 digs and 77 kills during the Powder Valley Tournament.

Powder Valley swept the competition, winning games against Echo (25-18, 7-25, 15-2), Jordan Valley (25-21, 25-18) and Irrigon (25-19, 27-25). Individual stats were not provided.

The Badgers (9-9 overall) host Griswold Tuesday.

Leopards tame Panthers: Allie Slater had 13 kills and 21 digs, but it was not enough for Imbler in a 7-25, 25-22, 18-25, 25-20, 15-10 loss to Cove.

Katelyn Stirewalt added 27 assists for Imbler. Stats were not provided for Cove.

The Panthers (2-9) host Elgin Tuesday.

Outlaws split at Baker: Enterprise split its bracket play matches at the Baker Tornament, topping Ontario, 26-28, 25-16, 15-11, before falling to Grant Union, 25-13, 25-13.

Earlier the Outlaws played Baker and New Plymouth in pool play.

Ashley Exon had a total of 20 kills for Enterprise. Ashlyn Gray added 28 digs and Riley Gray had 17 kills.

Enterprise (3-7 overall) hosts Union Friday.

Cougars fall at tourney: Wallowa lost 24-14, 25-20 to Irrigon at the Powder Valley Tournament. Individual stats were not provided.

The Cougars (2-3 overall) vist Cove Thursday.
