The Powder Valley Badgers boys basketball team pulled away in the second half Friday to rout Imbler on the road, 68-30 and stay undefeated in Old Oregon League play. 

Powder Valley extended a 29-20 lead at the break to 44-26 after three quarters, then outscored the Panthers by 20 in the fourth to run away.

Reece Dixon and Ethan Stephens both finished with 15 points to lead the Badgers, who had nine players score.

Wyatt Frost scored 11 points for the Panthers.

Grant Union 57, Union 39: The Bobcats took a lead into the fourth quarter Friday at Blue Mountain Conference-leading Grant Union, but were outscored 23-1 in the final period as they fell to the Prospectors.

Jace Phillips, who had 24 points for Union, had the lone free throw in the fourth as Grant Union — led by 10 fourth-quarter points from Tristan Morris — rallied from a 38-34 deficit. 

Cole McLean added eight points for the Bobcats, who were tied at halftime, 29-29. 

Elgin 42, Wallowa 38: The Cougars cut a 12-point fourth-quarter deficit to as little as two late Friday, but came up just short as they suffered a home Old Oregon League loss.

Tristin Bales scored 17 points to lead all scorers for Wallowa. Zeb Hermens added eight points and Ryder Goller had seven. The Huskies were led by Tristan Simpson, who had 13 pints, while Wyatt Hallgarth scored 11 and Kaden McClure added seven.

Elgin built a 31-19 lead after three before Wallowa finally broke the Huskies’ trapping defense to get back in the game, but the Cougars turned it over down two with a chance at the tie or the win.

Joseph 56, Griswold 34: The Eagles outscored Griswold 23-2 in the first quarter Friday and coasted to an easy win in Old Oregon League play. 

Joseph was never threatened after the big first, leading by 23 at halftime, 17 after three and adding to the lead in the fourth. 

Hadley Miller and Mason Ferre both scored 14 points to lead Joseph.

Pine Eagle 54, Cove 33: Cove was unable to keep up with Pine Eagle Friday as it suffered a home loss in Old Oregon League action.

The Spartans led by nine points early, took a 27-14 lead at the break and pushed the margin to 42-21 through three.

Bo Ledbetter and Patrick Frisch had eight points apiece to lead Cove.


Pilot Rock 44, Union 38: The Bobcats saw a fourth-quarter lead disappear Saturday for the second night in a row in a tough home loss in Blue Mountain Conference play.

Union was ahead 28-24 after three quarters, but the Rockets scored 20 points in the fourth quarter to come back for the win. 

Jace Phillips had 10 of his team-high 12 points in the second half to lead the Bobcats, while Cole McLean added seven points.

Union (13-9 overall, 4-5 BMC) visits Stanfield Friday.

Enterprise 63, Weston-McEwen 48: Dallas Harker scored 15 points Saturday, Foster Hobbs had 14 and the Outlaws ended a six-game losing streak with a road win in Blue Mountain Conference play.

David Salim and Flynn Nave added 10 points apiece for Enterprise, which outscored the TigerScots in each quarter as it gradually pulled away for the win to stay out of last place in the BMC.

Enterprise (6-9 overall, 2-6 BMC) hosts Heppner Friday. 

Powder Valley 80, Cove 36: Four Badgers reached double figures Saturday as Powder Valley stayed undefeated in Old Oregon League play with a win at Cove.

Roper Bingham scored 13 points for the Badgers, and Reece Dixon, Dominick Grende and Cole Martin each had 11. Powder Valley, which was already up 19-6 after one, blitzed Cove 27-6 in the second to take a commanding 46-12 lead at the half.

Quinn Dobbs and Caden Hall both had eight points for the Leopards (1-16 overall, 0-6 OOL), who visit Joseph Tuesday.

Powder Valley (16-4, 8-0) hosts Nixyaawii Tuesday in a matchup of the OOL’s top two teams.

Elgin 62, Griswold 25: The Huskies outscored Griswold 36-7 in the second half Saturday, and 20-2 in the third quarter, to pull away for an Old Oregon League win at home.

Kaden McClure, who led Elgin with 21 points, scored 14 of them in the second half to help spark the rout. Eleven of those points came in the third as a 26-18 halftime lead reached 46-20 after three quarters.

Gage McKay added 12 points and Ian Adams had 11 for Elgin (11-7 overall, 6-2 OOL), which visits Cove Friday.

Nixyaawii 68, Wallowa 38: Tyasin Burns scored 36 points Saturday to send Nixyaawii past Wallowa at home in Old Oregon League play. 

Tristin Bales scored eight points to lead Wallowa, which trailed 35-14 at halftime. Ian Foster added six points.

Wallowa (6-13 overall, 2-7 OOL) hosts Imbler Friday. 

Pine Eagle 45, Imbler 44: The Panthers saw a nine-point lead after three quarters evaporate Saturday as the Spartans scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to storm back for an Old Oregon League road win.

Caleb Brown and Caleb Thompson combined for 13 of the Spartans’ points in the fourth to spark the rally. The duo scored 10 and 14 points, respectively. 

Jayce Burnette scored 24 points, including eight in the fourth quarter, to lead the Panthers. Wyatt Frost added 11 points.

Imbler (5-11 overall, 3-4 OOL) visits Wallowa Friday.
