Senior running back Clay Martin dives for a first down during Powder Valley’s 46-14 victory over Elgin on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021.

NORTH POWDER — The Badgers won another blowout victory to improve to 2-0 on the season. Powder Valley defeated Elgin 46-14 to earn its first league victory of the year.

The Badgers jumped out to a 40-6 lead by halftime and put on the brakes in the second half. Head Coach Josh Cobb’s team has outscored opponents 88-28 to start the season.

For Elgin, it was an admirable effort in the team’s first game of the year after Days Creek was short of players in week one. The Huskies marched a roster with 11 players onto the field against a Powder Valley team that is looking like a powerhouse this season. Several Elgin players suffered injuries during the game, stretching the team thin.

The Huskies will look to bounce back against Cove on Sept. 17, while the Badgers will host St. Paul on the same evening.
