ATHENA — The Union girls basketball team rattled off another Blue Mountain Conference win, blowing out Weston-McEwen 50-14 on Tuesday, Jan. 11.
The Bobcats jumped out to an early lead, holding an 18-6 advantage after the first quarter and leading 23-8 at halftime. Senior Audrey Wells scored five of her six points in the first quarter to help Union establish an early lead. Senior Callie Glenn hit three three-pointers and scored 11 of her 23 points in the first half — she finished the game with six three-pointers.
In the second half, the Bobcats outscored the TigerScots 27-6 to pull away with a 36-point margin of victory. Senior Kaylin Nowak scored six of her 10 points in the fourth quarter as Union walked away with its fourth straight victory and third straight conference win.
The victory improved Union’s overall record to 12-2 and its conference record to 3-0. The Bobcats are currently tied with Stanfield atop the 2A-6 Blue Mountain Conference.
Up next, Union will travel to face Enterprise on Jan. 15. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
