La Grande began its season on a strong note, dominating Umatilla 7-0 on the road on Thursday, Sept. 9. The Tigers’ match against Corvallis on Aug. 28 was canceled, so the blowout victory puts La Grande in the win column to start the year.

The Tigers could not miss early on, putting up five goals in the first half of regulation and ultimately creating an insurmountable lead. La Grande added two additional goals in the second half to secure the shutout victory in the non-league matchup.

The Tigers are coming off a 7-2 season in which four players were nominated to 4A all-state teams. After a strong season-opening match victory at Umatilla, La Grande will face Pendleton/Weston-McEwen on Sept. 13.
